Project 'Track Clio' is scrapped but the Clio will run again...

It’s been a while since I last updated you on project ‘track Clio’ and things have slightly changed. We’ll kick off with an update on the Clio.

...Yup it's finished

The Cylinder head was taken off and inspected. Bent valves were found (all on the exhaust valves) and most of the rocker arms were damaged whilst bouncing around freely in the head. Replacing these parts were not cheap rocker arms alone were £10 each and with 16 required its already expensive. Then there is the valves and cam shafts that also need replacing.

Saved by eBay...

It was not looking good for our little Clio, an almost certain game over up until an eBay seller stepped in with an almighty saviour. A complete cylinder head with cams, though no pulleys, was advertised for a mere £160 delivered! I couldn’t click that ‘Buy it now’ (which in my eyes read Save the Clio) any faster. Two days later the head arrived and we were one big step closer to fixing our Clio.

There has, however, been a bit of a change of plan for  the Clio. This blogging and reviewing of cars business is just a bit of fun for me. I don’t get paid for it and I have a full time job breaking computers. The funding I have is spare pennies left over, once the Tax man has taken a bite of my salary salad and paid for a house for me and my wonderful family to live in. I now have a new job and that is taking priority at the moment.

Maybe Next Year....

With the use of a company vehicle coming to an end, I need a cheap daily motor to get me around until I settle in my new place of work. Project ‘Track Clio’ has been scrapped and the car is now in the hands of the experts with new Renault bits and bobs to get it back on the road in time for my new job. I’ve priced everything up and to get the Clio on the road again, it’s going to cost around £900. Sounds allot I know, but half of the cost is the labour to put it back together. I also found a split CV joint I couldn’t bring myself to sort. What’s more, I’ll have a refreshed Clio at my disposal.

Whilst this was not the initial plan, all is not lost. I’m still going to continue with the blogging and reviewing business. I’ve got a couple of interesting cars I can get my hands on to review. I’ve got a 350z, a Civic Type R, a daddy cool Octavia VRS and of course my M3. Then there will be anything I may rant in writing rather than just to myself. Mostly unnecessary road works and terrible parking.

With the new job and Autumn accompanied with the amount of daylight shortening, it will be tricky to get some reviews in. For those who have been with me so far, Thank You for reading, I hope my experiences have been informative, as well as entertaining.

Keep dropping in :)
